Contract Documentation

Some of the VolunteersThe following documents were developed by Carron Valley Development Group to tender for, award and manage the construction contracts for the first and second phases of the mountain bike trails at Carron Valley. This investment totalled circa £125,000 - see funding notes for further details.

The construction contracts were project managed almost exclusively by group members with day jobs variously in Civil Engineering and Project Management.

Funding Notes

Following contract completion, CVDG were successfully awarded an additional £15,000 from Leader+; £18,000 from North Lanarkshire Council and £35,000 from WREN for investment in a multi purpose trail along the loch side. However, due to Forestry Commission Scotland's continual undermining of the Carron Valley Partnership and their prevarication on the project development, the Leader+ money was lost to trail development. Following the funder's concerns over the loss of funding to the area, CVDG moved to re-assign this funding to Forestry Commission Scotland which also helped defray their costs and bail them out of their obligations to build the on-site toilet.

The North Lanarkshire Council and WREN funds remain unspent. According to Forestry Commission Scotland's latest edict they also appear to have been successful in re-appropriating the WREN funding some years after it was initially granted. They have: "carried out an appropriate tender, this work is now progressing"

We await the results...
